An Open Letter to All Members of the EPRU

Letter to all members of the EPRU

As you are likely aware the EPRU suffered a significant loss both personally and professionally with the passing of Dana Bateman.  Dana had been Secretary for the EPRU for the past 40+ years and nobody can appreciate the amount of work that she did, and how much we relied on her.  We have been working intensely since her death to transition much of this work. Small tasks like transitioning the mail, the bank accounts, and 40 years worth of EPRU minutes and memorabilia have taken unbelievable amounts of time to accomplish.

I say this not as an excuse, but to give you some perspective on where we are as an organization.  As the Board we are working diligently to right the ship, and we are slowly coming out of crisis mode.  This is a volunteer position for all of us, and this work is being performed around school, family, and full time jobs. We also continue to have responsibilities to the MAC and to USA Rugby.

With that said, we want to hear from you.  We need to know what you are struggling with and what you need from us.  Particularly we want to know what you need in the next 30, 60, and 90 days and then beyond that.  We will address all that we can over the summer and then regroup at our AGM in September.

We will be holding elections as quickly as possible to fill the vacant secretary position, and other vacant positions.  If you think you could step up and help, please submit your name for consideration.

The EPRU's goal is, and always has been, the support of the game, the teams and the athletes, of rugby.  While we are a governing body, our goal is to provide back to our membership and assist whenever and wherever possible. Perhaps we have not done enough of that over the past few years.  If that is the case, we are committed to changing that dynamic and to making the EPRU your union.

You can reach me or any of the board through the contact links, or I will be posting my direct email and phone on our Facebook page.  I will always do my best to address your problems head on.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work through this momentous change.
