Hope Rogers, South Penn Girls, is Higgins Scholarship Recipient

Hope Rogers, South Penn Girls

Hope Rogers was introduced to the sport of rugby in 2009 with the South Penn Girls U19 team. Although just a sophomore, Hope immediately found her game. She scored four tries and kicked three conversions during her first season and received the team’s Rookie of the Year Award.

Although it was just her first year of play, she tried out for and made the Mid-Atlantic All Star-Team and traveled to the U19 National All-Star Championship tournament. Because of her rugby prowess, Hope Rogers received a Kevin Higgins College Scholarship for 2011. Congratulations Hope!

USRFF Announces Higgins Scholarship Recipients

The USRFF has announced the winners of the 2011 Kevin Higgins College Scholarships. The $1,000 scholarships, named in honor of one of the all-time great U.S. centers, Kevin Higgins are awarded to graduating high school seniors who have gone onto continue their education and rugby at the collegiate level. This year's 10 recipients brings the total to 31 Higgins Scholarship winners since the program was established in 2008.

"Selecting the Kevin Higgins College Scholarship recipients continues to be a difficult yet rewarding task for the Scholarship Committee," said USRFF Executive Director Brian Vizard. "Every application we receive is from a deserving young man or woman and all of them would be worthy of receiving a Higgins Scholarship."
