Club Spotlight: Doylestown Women’s Rugby Club

Doylestown Women’s Rugby Club

The Lady Dragons of Doylestown celebrated an undefeated fall season this year, placing them as this week's Club Spotlight.

Doylestown Women History

With the success of and popularity of the Junior Girls Club, a proposal was made for the formation of a women's club team at the annual Doylestown RFC meeting in December of 2000.

Many women in the rugby community worked hard to recruit players to qualify for recognized membership. They also worked with the existing executive board of DRFC to include the Women's Division in the by-laws and executive board of the club. Put to vote before the club members, the amendment to the DRFC constitution unanimously passed and the Doylestown Women's Rugby Football Club (DWRFC) was formed on September 13, 2001.

As of October 2001, the DWRFC gained recognized membership in the Eastern Pennsylvania Rugby Union (EPRU).

Dragons Never Quit

DWRFC toughed it out against the top seed to finish their fall season undefeated. Closing 6-0 against other Division 2 Women's teams, the Lady Dragons continue to dominate on the field.

DWRFC look forward to their spring campaign and upcoming tournaments.
