Schuykill River RFC and Philadelphia Women's RFC Both Compete in Club 7s Championships

After qualifying in the MAC 7s Tournament, the Schuykill River RFC and the Philadelphia Women's RFC traveled to Minneapolis, Minnesota to compete in the National Clubs 7s Tournament. The tournament took place at the National Sport Center on Saturday, August 12th and Sunday, August 13th.

Philadelphia Gryphons Hosted Players from Gay & Inclusive Clubs for Colonial Cup Tournament

The Philadelphia Gryphons Rugby Football Club, the city’s gay and inclusive men's team, hosted nine rugby clubs from around the country for the second biennial Colonial Cup, held on May 19-20 at Edgely Field in Fairmount Park. Nearly 300 rugby players from around the eastern U.S. participated in the tournament, which strives to strengthen the growing network of gay and inclusive rugby teams across the globe.

The Lehigh Valley Summer 7s has been hosted by the Lehigh Valley RFC for over 42 years! This tournament is open to 24 men's club teams and 16 women's club teams. The entry fee is $250, due by June 1. Located in Beautiful Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the tournament will consist of three field or rugby action. Water & Ice is provided as well as medical trainers. Philadelphia-Whitemarsh has announced their annual HOF banquet date and location - February 4th at the Chester Valley Golf Club in Malvern. EARLY BIRD tickets are $60 through January 2nd. Join the MARS team! MARS is a "Golden Oldies" side (35 and above) formed in 1985 in the Philadelphia area. The majority of MARS players are or were associated with teams in the EPRU (but that is NOT a pre-requisite to join!) Since 1985, MARS has participated in all but one Golden Oldies Festival. Most recently the team went to the 21st World Golden Oldies Festival in Cardiff, Wales. The next festival will be in Christchurch, New Zealand on April 22-29, 2018.

2016 Annual Mandatory EPRRS Meeting

The 2016 EPRRS Annual Clinic will offer three separate locations on Saturday, January 30th. Remember, this is a mandatory session for all teams (Club, College, High School & Age Grade) that utilize the services of the EPRRS.  The Clinic will provide instruction for the year, as well as assistance for each club's officers in their dealings with the EPRRS.  The Clinic should take no more than two hours depending on questions from the crowd.

Josias A. Sterling was a standout rugby player at St. Joe’s Prep and a rising star on the Temple University rugby team when he tragically lost his life at Ocean City, N.J. in July 2009. Sterling was pulled out to sea by a riptide while standing in knee-deep water tossing a rugby ball with a friend. He did not know how to swim.

At the annual Scrum For Six charity event, held May 10, the Brandywine Old Boys beat the South Jersey Old Guard 52 -26. Some Wilmington Old Boys helped fill out the South Jersey Old Guard side. It was a friendly match that saw some nice breaks, long tries (one very nice try by Wilmington Old Boy Chris Gagnier) and great sportsmanship by all who played. Eight members to receive the highest recognition. The induction ceremony will take place during the 40th Anniversary reunion banquet to be held on Saturday, May 24. The members of the Class of 2014 are Brad DeLawter, Paul Dennis, Kevin Lynott, Stacy Mancuso, Brian McCullough, Kevin Reilly, Bill Tomlinson, and Matt Wyatt. Receiving recognition as the team inductee for 2014 is the 2010 Men's team, which captured the Mid Atlantic Championship and finished 2nd in the national playoffs.

In EPRU playoff action April 5th, Philadelphia Whitemarsh defeated Reading by a score of 43-22, while Old Gaelic put down Lehigh Valley 47-7. Old Gaelic travels to Memorial Hall field to face Philadelphia Whitemarsh April 6th. Kickoff is 2:30pm. Reading travels to Lehigh Valley for the all inportant third seed match for MAC North. The winner of the match in Bethlehem will earm the third MAC seed for the upcoming playoffs.

Washington (0-6) travels to Schuylkill (2-3) Saturday in Fairmount Park

Saturday's Washington vs. Schuylkill River (SR) match is scheduled to kickoff at 1:00pm at Memorial Hall Field in Fairmount Park. Coming in to the match, Schuylkill is 2-3 in league play, while Washington is 0-6.  A win for Schuylkill puts them closer to the goal of qualifying for the 2012 playoffs, while a loss dampens those chances considerably.
