USA Rugby is hosting a USA Rugby National Development Summit on February 21-23, 2014 in the Philadelphia area.  This event is on track to be bigger and better than ever, featuring the best opportunity to learn and share about coaching, refereeing and administration.  Last year featured all of our national team coaching staff, our national panel referees, and top administrators teaching and sharing over the long weekend.

The Pocono Olympic 7s tournament will be held on the picturesque campus of East Stroudsburg University, in the heart of the Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania. This tournament promises to be the first of many for great competition set at an outstanding venue playing Olympic 7s Rugby.

Mike Lawrenson has been selected for the USA Rugby All-American tour to New Zealand. Mike and Jamie Gregory just spent the last three days at the All-American camp in Los Angeles, California. They had both been named USA Rugby All-Americans last month, along with  teammate Tim Acker. The All-American coaching staff invited the selected players to a special tryout camp, for the opportunity to be selected to the team that travels on tour, representing the United States Collegiate All-Americans.

The time for summer player camps has arrived, as students bid farewell to school for the next couple of months but not to the sport they love. For the most part, attendees know what to expect at these assemblies: lots of personal attention from high-level coaches, education on nutrition and conditioning, throngs of like-minded athletes. But one player camp is tackling an underserved topic that affects many college – and club – teams: the necessity for player coaches.

With free scholarships available, the ESU camp directors are looking for freshman and sophomore women who have just completed their first year of rugby to apply to attend the East Stroudsburg University Rugby Camp beginning the week of July 11th. This camp is designed to expose young player/coaches to higher levels of coaching and thereby foster development of both coaching skills as well as individual and team rugby skills.

Led by MVP Barnsby Audsley, the Occidental College Tigers bounced back from an opening pool play loss to Western New England University and won the inaugural NSCRO National 7s Championship by defeating the University of North Florida 28-15 at PPL Park on Sunday June 2 in front of more than 6,000 rugby fans. Coach Dallen Stanford, a former Eagle 7s player, could not have been happier. The  EPRU's Susquehanna University faired well in the tournament defeating Western New England University and losing good matches to both tournament finalists.
